Archeological tourism in Uzbekistan
For more than 40 years, an Uzbek archeological expedition, which is unique in all of Central Asia, has been operating in the Southern part of the country. During the excavations, this expedition has discovered the following ruins of ancient Central Asia:
Dalverzin-tepa, Halchayan, Ayritam, Kampir-tepa, and Kizil-tepa. A world famous treasure - 36 kg of gold, about 25 sculptures of various characters of high society, and over 30 sculptures of Buddha, Bodhisattva and other characters has been discovered there. The earliest ivory chess figures, murals, and coins with the face of the Kushan King were also found there.
Most of these findings have been exhibited at International expositions in Tokyo, Nara, Paris, Washington, Zurich, Stuttgart, and Hanover. All of these findings are exhibited in the museum of the Research Institute located in the center of Tashkent.
For the past 40 years, the outstanding archeologist and Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Bahodir Turgunov, has continuously headed this expedition.
