Excellent central location

Very close to the Registan and other places of interest. This 2 storey Hotel without elevators (but wide stairs) has a nice lobby with bar, the rooms are spacious, well carpeted and provide a desk, TV, mini-bar. The free wifi works only in the lobby area, not in the rooms. No power outlet at the desk in the room, which is unfortunate and hampers the use of electronic equipment, such conditions should no longer exist in the 21st century. The room is fairly brightly lit, however there should be an additional light at the desk as well as at the luggage stand. Standard tiled bathroom with good tub/shower and sink, however there is not sufficient shelf or counter space to place toiletries. Ok breakfast with stack of fried eggs and the other usual items, rather underwhelming. Overall a good decent place on the Silk Road.

Nice stay

Rooms are fine. Breakfast buffett adequate but not as big as expected from large hotel but enough choice.
No Internet in rooms and very poor internet in lobby.
Staff helpful but even some of front desk had so so English.
Nice and small outdoor pool.
Overall I would recommend this place to stay.

Great location

This is a large elaborate hotel situated only minutes from the Registan and other important sites. It is clean and has a considerable lobby including a gift shop. The staff were very friendly and always wanting to help. Bedrooms were clean with adequate bathroom inc over-bath shower. The AC was functional. The toilet started not to flush but when we reported it, it was sorted almost immediately. There is free wi-fi around the lobby and bedrooms but was not working whilst we were there. On further enquiries we came to know that internet access in Samarkand is rather flaky and keeps going down across the city. So it was not the hotel's fault. There was small swimming pool in the garden but we did not have time to try it out. The breakfast was very grand with a good variety of cereals, jams, real fresh honeycomb, fruits, breads etc. Number of staff were at hand to ensure nothing ran out. The hotel is in back street only 3-4 mins walk from the Registan in one direction and Bibi-Khanum/bazaar in the other.

Tourist hotel at a good location

The kitchy Asian hotel lays in between the Registan and the Bibi-Khanym mosque (and the bazaar): excellent for visiting old Samarkand. Restaurants and shops however are hard to find around. The rooms are clean, the bathroom OK, and the airco worked well. The breakfast buffet gave plenty of choice. After a trip through Uzbekistan we were eager to make use of the swimming pool. The first day however there was a kids party going on, and the second day our rest was disturbed by a bunch of neighborhood boys trying to impress the girls. The personnel was correct, but not really heartily like we experienced elsewhere in the country. We also had the impression that there was too much personnel.

Location, location

Stayed for a couple of nights on a trip around Uzbekistan. First is the location - a 5 minute walk from Registan square, allowing you to easily pop round at all times of the day for fantastic photo opportunities. Rooms were spacious, with high ceilings and comfortable (if slightly hard) beds. Kitchy mosaic bathrooms were endearing. Good little souvenir shop in reception (but as with all hotels more expensive than what you will find in the street). Could actually get BBC to catch up with world events. Reception staff had a friendly smile when passing through - free wifi also pretty handy.

Good location

We were a large group and disappointed with the rooms... some rooms were smelly, the bed was hard, duvet was not in its cover and room furnishings quite garish.

Only point in favour is the location...which is walking distance from registan and the Bibi Khanum.

Samarkand

Nice place

The hotel was generally good enough, but it could definitely be better. I wish the bed were a bit bigger though. The bathroom is however alright with and I found it comfortable enough.
Location is very convenient just behind Registan square and within walking distance to other city attractions

Very nice hotel

Great hotel with clean and tidy rooms. The hotel staff is friendly and nice people. Not expensive. Breakfast is good. Were very satisfied. Not regretted that have chosen this hotel. We will recommend this hotel to all my friends, by the fact that is located not far from the Registan Square. Thanks to the administration of the hotel, for what created the conditions for a comfortable stay.

First, the location was just fantastic. It was just in a walking distance to Registan Square, which was one of the landmark in Samarkand and just in 5 minutes to a chain of shops. The rooms were good but you can only have wireless network outside the hotel rooms. Breakfast was good. They have bread, cheese, yoghurt, drinks and other...

There's a "formula" to the Asia chain of hotels and this fits that well. Rooms were clean, well apointed and well maintained, and beds were reasonably comfortable. Buffet breakfast was varied to suit a wide range of tastes and coffee at this particular hotel was good for Uzbekistan.
Bar prices were reasonable and service satisfactory. Other services were good. There is also a small outdoor pool.
We did not eat a main meal in the restaurant but other tour groups did.
Its main advantage is in it's central lacation, close to all the main sites of Samarkand yet in a quiet side road.

The hotel is situated very close to the Registan which is the most important site in Samarkand. It is also less than ten minutes walk to the main bazaar. The hotel is very comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. The breakfast offered a wide variety and I found their porridge excellent!

This is a tour group hotel during the season and the hotel does a good job of catering to that business. It has a great location with about a 10 minute walk from Registan Square.
It is a medium sized hotel that has grown over the years by adding multiple two story buildings as they have acquired additional property.
The rooms are nice sized, the A/C works well but the bathrooms are dimly illuminated. We found the beds hard (a mattress on a wooden platform) and the sheets don’t fit well.
Be aware there are no elevators so be ready to carry your own bags since tour groups overwhelm the bell staff.
The hotel restaurant has a wide selection at breakfast of wonderful foods…always something for everyone (including the ubiquitous instant coffee).
There is intermittent free WiFi in lobby.

Great location, good effort but a bit soulless

We stayed three nights in two different rooms, the room decor is fairly opulent and welcoming but we had problems with the bathroom facilities in both rooms.

A good tourist hotel nevertheless, in our experience the breakfast was plentiful and varied but dinner in the evening bland and soulless, although the staff were very friendly.

It's within a safe, quick walk to the Registan.

Above average, great location

By central Asia standards, this hotel is above average. Excellent location near to where you want to be as a tourist, including the market which is worth a visit. Friendly staff, wifi in the lobby, a decent breakfast, comfortable bed, hot shower and generally clean. The hotel caters mainly for tours. The dining room looked rather uninviting so we had dinner in a restaurant right opposite the Registan which was good.

This hotel is in the amazing location to wander the sites of Samarkand like the Registan.
However, the hotel itself is a bit dated and faded, but nothing too bad by Central Asian standards. The counter staff were very friendly and helpful.
