Nice location, Hotel ok service could be better

This is a good location. It has a great rooftop area with comfortable seating and pleasant surrounding but it ins't used or operated as a restaurant or bar, so it lacks atmosphere at night. WiFi is limited to lobby and stair areas. Rooms adequate and clean. Staff are helpful and friendly but not assertive in the service they offer. Breakfast is ok, but could be improved we found you had to ask for things or they wouldn't be offered. Air con was noisy and a drain smell was present most of the time. had nice rooms at the front with lovely view. Caters for groups, meals are provided in the evening but not for independent travelers when we asked. Area lacks restaurants and those we tried were not great. There is a good restaurant opposite the Registan (don't know its name but you can't miss it) with an open balcony we ate there a few times food basic but good.

Great location in Samarkand, decent rooms

The Malika Prime is located in a great spot close to many attractions (the other Malika, however, is not as centrally located). Samarkand is quite spread out (sights, restaurants, shops) and this is basically in the middle. Rooms are fairly basic by most standards but definitely clean and comfortable. Air conditioning also works well. Breakfast is good, service is adequate and the staff were able to change money and provide some helpful tips, also WiFi worked on the first floor. Ther area and hotel were fairly quiet. On balance, was stayed in another hotel in Uzbekistan that was nicer and cheaper, but the Malika Prime was certainly a fine option for our few nights in Samarkand.

Simple Room, Nice location

Malika Prime is in a good location, next to Amir Timur's mausoleum.
Our room was small and simple. Ok breakfast. Wifi internet available around front desk and work not so good.
Also hotel in walking distance to Registan Square.

Quiet and Convenient”

It locates very close to one of the main attractions of Samarkand - Gur Emir Mausoleum. It is very quiet at night. There is a tiny convenient tiny store right besides the hotel, however it is over-priced.

There is nothing much to eat near the hotel. You need to either walk to the registan square (which takes about 10 minutes) for fast food or uzbek food, or to the university avenue to have fast food (I forgot the name, it only takes 5 minutes, but the fast food is good and priced reasonably).

I stayed in room 14 which is right in the middle of the second floor facing the park. The room is quite big. The washroom has irritating smell. I believe it is from the drain caused by poor drainage design, but it is commonly in other hotels in uzbekistan. Water is sufficient hot (but one night I could only have warm water, perhaps due to too many visitors) and the pressure is good.

The breakfast is so so, you can have eggs, cold sausage, cheese, pancakes, bread, tea, milk and coffee, nothing fantastic. There is no kettle in the room, but you can ask the reception to send hot water to your room.

WiFi is not free, it is $1 per day. The signal is not very good, but I can still use it in my room.

One bad thing I experienced was that the blanket is very thin(actually I doubt if it is a blanket, it just looks like bed cover) and made me feel very uncomfortable. However, thicker blanket is available per your request.

All in all, I am satisfactory with the service and the facilities of the hotel. If you want a quiet environment, this hotel is highly recommended. However, if you want convenience, I think those hotels near the registan square is better.

Nice enough, good location

This is a small hotel. The rooms were adequate, but nothing special. The AC worked well. It is near several tourist attractions, walking distance, which was nice. The staff spoke little English, and the WI Fi was only in the lobby and rather slow. Also they would not turn it on until 8:00 am! Breakfast was very limited, but the service was good.

Cosy place in walking distance of the main sigh seeing attractions

The hotel is conveniently located near the ugly former Intourist Hotel. It has a nice rooftop terrase. They serve breakfast but otherwise there is no food available but there are restaurants nearby. WiFi coverage is bad, basically only in the lobby.

Nice Hotel

We stayed here for 2 nights on our trip through Uzbekistan. Having stayed at the Malika Kheivak in Khiva I was kind of expecting this hotel to be similar, but I feel it was slightly better. On arrival the exterior looks well presented and cared for. The lobby is quite nice and airy, although could do with a bit more natural light!

Checking-In was quick and we were assigned a room on the first floor with a balcony on the front of the hotel which was nice. The room itself was clean, slightly more modern than Khiva, and with a better mattress (although quite firm). The bed was a double but was pushed up against the wall, which was a bit inconvenient but not the end of the world!

The hotel is well located in central Samarkand, next to the amazing Guir-E-Amir Mausoleum, and about a 15min walk from the Registan (which at the time of writing was undergoing extensive rennovations, and is likely to be so for about a month).

A couple of minor gripes mean this hotel only gets a 3* rating. The first is problems with the room, i.e. a plug socket (with plug inserted) physically hanging off the wall in the bathroom, a shower head clip that didn't secure the shower head, meaning you personally had to hold the shower head as you used it, and the balcony door handle that came off in my hand when I went to lock it. Also the "restaurant" isn't actually a restaurant, it's just a room with tables, that happens to be where Breakfast is served. Quite annoyingly they don't serve any other food at the hotel - in that respect the Malika website is misleading in stating there's a restaurant. I wonder if i'd turned up with a coach-tour of people if they would then suddenly do food!! Also there was no free wifi as there was in Malika Kheivak, I was told it was 3000 som for the day, and that was only in the lobby/common areas which we declined. And yes, I know this is Uzbekistan, but even so, simple repairs to the above things aren't difficult!

With regard to food, the best place is the Cafe Magistr, about a 10min walk past the Registan Plaza Hotel (this was recommended by reception, and to be fair was a good choice). They have a very extensive menu in english, do good, fresh coffee and also do breakfasts (much better than the hotel, although you have to pay obviously!) like pancakes, and have free wifi. It caters mainly for a younger crowd as it's near the University, but has a nice atmosphere with good staff.

Travelling with a group

Travelling with a group. Hotel opposite a pleasant park. Small, clean, wi-fi ($1a day) in lobby but intermittent (better in evenings), Bottled water for sale only. Breakfast adequate but would have liked some fresh fruit. Rooms with very high wooden ceilings. Beds either firm or marshmallow! Roof terrace with rooftop views - could have drinks up there.

Great location, great staff, OK rooms

This hotel offers a great location in a small boutiquey place in Samarkand. The rooms are not too big, but bed and sheets quite comfortable, bathroom OK. All rooms have a nice balcony, plus there's a nice terrace to chill on the second floor.

Staff at reception desk and breakfast very nice and speak good English. This hotel also hosts groups, but as they only have 21 rooms it never gets too much...

Farruh, who works at the reception desk was our guide for a day and was really good and helpful.

I spent two nights in the Malika Prime hotel. The location is very good, about the service I was not very happy. The rooms are decent, not very light, but the personal, especially the receptionist was quite unfriendlyl. The breakfast is okey. However, I felt that the services the hotel offers (tour guide, taxi) are well overpriced; another hotel guest confirmed my impression. Just an example: I booked a hotel to the border of Tadschikistan in Penjakent and he wanted to charge me 65 US Dollars. After I went to ask some other taxi drivers on the street one confirmed me, that he would bring me to the border for 40 US Dollars. I would have thought that at least the hotel should be honest to the hotel guests...or not? Plus, there are over 70 hotels in Samarkand so it is easy to find a substitute for Malika Prime.
