Great location, excellent breakfast.

I stayed here two nights during a Silk Road tour by train. My room (021) off the main corridor was large and airy with a queen sized bed. I found the mattress rather hard, but there were two large comfortable pillows. The bathroom was large with a good sized walk in shower (the curtain was a bit too short - or the rod too high) and the water pressure was a bit minimal, but there was plenty of hot water and room to set out toiletries. They provided soap, shampoo and bath gel. Unlike another reviewer I had no problem with smells and everthing was very clean, but yes, like most of Uzbekistan, you have to put the toilet paper in a separate bucket.

The window opened (it had a screen on it too) and there was very little street noise if it was open. The room was air conditioned also. This hotel is in a great location close to the Madrassa square with bazaar, restaurants etc. I did not have any safety concerns being located on the ground floor. The breakfast was excellent with a large number of items, well presented, and I found the staff at reception and in the restaurant most helpful and very pleasant.

Strictly average

Very average hotel. Nothing exceptional. Small rooms.Poor service by the staff.Buffet breakfast was good. There was poor lights in the hotel lobby making it very scary. The shops in the hotel were reasonable. Over all just about average.

Good experience

As soon as we arrived both the reception and restaurant staff were extremely kind and thoughtful. Throughout our stay they made an effort to lay on special food and ask after her health. This left us with a good impression of the service in a region where generally the level of service is not overly high.

Location wise the hotel is not in the old town of Bukhara but you can easily walk there in 10-15 mins, The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. The restaurant didn't open for one night during our stay which was probably due to insufficient demand (occupancy seemed fairly low). Bukhara itself is a great place and definitely worth spending 2-3 full days.

Over all I would say this is a good hotel based on regional standards. It's not great and it's a little bland compared with some of the smaller hotels in the old city. The personal touch of the staff made the main difference for us though.
