Still one of the best place to stay

The place in itself is worth a visit. One of the rare "real" historic place hotel in Bukhara. Don't put your expectation too high and your stay will be perfect. Enjoy the breakfast (simple and crowded if you are in high season) in a fairy tale room with a terrace, a way to grab the gone away atmosphere of old Bukhara. Rooms are ok (some of them need refurbishement) but location and atmosphere is worth the little sacrifice. Friendly but not always helpful staff.

Location and breakfast are great, but the room is just ok.

This hotel was once a rich jewish merchant house. The building in the main courtyard was impressive to have an excellent breakfast. However, the room I had was just ok, but tv signal didnt work during the day. (The reception guy said that because of rain the day before). Staffs are helpful. I could have early check-in in the morning after my train arrived.

Not quite as good as I expected

I booked this some months ago, based on guidebook and tripadvisor recommendations - particularly in regard to location. Having spent a few days in Bukhara, I realise now there are many hotels in an equally good location, including Emir, Salom and Devon Begi. Lyabi House is an old home converted into a hotel and the breakfast room/terrace is particularly charming. Rooms, however, are very 2-star, so it is worth doing some research if you want something of a higher quality. On the plus side, the staff were excellent and greatly contributed to my stay. Devon Begi, which I also saw, is a newish boutique hotel, built to look like a traditional home, with much better rooms and bathrooms. However the woman (owner?) manning the reception desk wasn't particularly welcoming...

A fascinating hotel

I stayed here for a weekend with colleagues and was enchanted by the building - a former merchant's house with many original features. The multilingual staff were helpful and pleasant. My room was simple with white washed walls and a comfortable bed. The room and bathroom were clean with everything I needed, including ample hot water. Breakfast was plentiful and varied.
I would stay again

Good location

The hotel is located very conveniently for most of the sights in Bukhara. My room was not bad, overlooking the courtyard. Yes, the d?cor is tired but the room and the bathroom were clean. There was a (loud) AC and a fridge in the room. The courtyard is lovely for an afternoon tea on the day beds. The breakfast room is stunning. Overall, a decent place to stay.

Do wander around in the area - there is a small synagogue just around the corner, it is worth visiting and the caretaker will give you some information. You will feel transported to the bygone times.

On the way to the bazaar, make a detour to a photo studio on the left hand side along the way. It is located in a small courtyard and Mr Shavkat Boltaev (the photographer) will show you his pictures and tell the stories of his travels in Europe and US. The black & white photographs are just beautiful. The photographs are on sale and make a good present.

Just after you walk through the bazaar arcade, there is an old hammam on the right hand side. I recommend a visit, you can have a massage even late in the evening.

Great location

This was one of the few accommodation experiences that we enjoyed in Uzbekistan. Although the rooms are quite old and not well maintained (very noisy air con, broken fittings in the bath room), the location is unbeatable (in a narrow, quiet alley, 25 m from the main square), the staff is friendly and helpful (quite a rare characteristics in Uzbekistan), and breakfast was perhaps the best we came across in Central Asia. Wi-fi worked reasonably well as well.

Beautiful place to stay

the best place we stayed during our Uzbekistan trip. This hotel is really beautiful and charming, great choice for breakfast, excellent location in the center of the old city, rooms are nice. The courtyard where breakfast is served is definitely a highlight.

Excellent location

Just a few steps from Lyabi Square. Every sites are within walking distance. Rooms of different sizes are available. Hot shower is OK. But AC of some rooms, especially those in big size is not working very well. It is a bit unbearable in the summer of over 40 celsus degree. We then changed to a smaller twin room with a workable AC. Buffet breakfast at an authentic outdoor restaurant in the courtyard.

Authentic feeling

Well situated in a small alley debouching into the Lyabi Hauz this hotel in authentic traditional style brings one in the right mood to visit beautiful Buchara. The manager and his great staff speak well English. The rooms are clean and spacious. In summer a very good breakfast is served on the porch of the old merchant house. Wifi is available in the lobby and the surrounding rooms. The airco however is in most rooms old and noisy, and should be modernized, as are some of the sanitary equipment. But all by all a very good base camp to visit the old town.

Location Location location

We recently stayed two nights in the Lyabi House. The location puts you in the centre of the old city and offers a great opportunity to explore the old city.
The hotel itself has a big open courtyard which is a great space to relax in. When we were there it was still too cool to have breakfasts out in the courtyard, which I am told is teh practice in the warmer months.
The room was clean and comfortable and the staff very accomodating. The breakfasts provided were plentiful. I had to pick and choose to accomodate a gluten free diet, but I didn't go hungry.

Best in Bukhara

I visit Bukhara at least twice a year and always stay at Lyabi Haus. The location is perfect, the rooms large and decorated in an understated way that is most attractive. Many rooms have bath tubs. The dining room, an original Bukharan merchant's reception room, is breathtaking.
Breakfast is generous and varied, coffee is filtered. The staff are outstanding - friendly, helpful with bags and attentive. It is the only place for me in Bukhara.

Great location and nice courtyard

We enjoyed the courtyard most in the afternoon to catch our breath from sightseeing. Breakfast was great, good selection, very switched on friendly service and the setting on the balcony in the courtyard with beautifully decorated ceiling.
Location is of course also second to none just two steps away from the buzz on the main square, so close but quiet at the same time

Nice Hotel with Great design

What i particular like about this hotel is it's design, especially the place to have breakfast. It is designed in tradition silk road cities style. Breakfast is only so-so with a few varieties of selection mainly american or continental style breakfast. Would be great if the breakfast could provide a tradition Bukharian style food to enhance the experience of staying in a silk road city.
The room is spacious but nothing special.
Hotel is centrally located and near to all the attractions in Bukhara.

Nice Stylish hotel slap bang in the middle of Buchara

A very nice quiet hotel (renovated merchants house I think) lots of style and sympathetically restored keeping lots of local features. Courtyards roof terraces,
Just a nice quaint little place especially is you are fed up with modern hotels.

The staff were delightful and very very helpful.
You can not better the location as it is right in the middle of all the activities.

Really recommend this place.

Central Location in Old Town Bukhara

Its hard to imagine a more central place to stay in Old Town Bukhara than Lyabi House. Rooms were spacious and clean. Breakfast was served in part of the hotel that is an old merchants home - functional in a modern context but still charming, and having an old world feel about it. Staff were multilingual and friendly. Laundry service was fast and inexpensive. All up this was a great option for a few nights in Bukhara.

Inside the old city wall, this hotel had that special "feel good" feeling. Plenty of local flavor with spacious, clean rooms close to all the activity. Breakfasts were plentiful with a wide selection suitable for all. Desk staff were very helpful. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to others.

Great option....very comfortable

Perfectly located hotel in the old town of Bukhara which combines heritage charm and modern comforts. Though popular with tour groups it s also a good option for independent travellers.
Excellent young reception staff..very helpful and with good English skills. Especial thanks to Mr Furkat.
Good breakfast in a historical dining room or the courtyard terrace outside.
The rooms are clean and comfortable with good bathrooms and functioning wifi. No safety boxes though and mattresses a little old.
All in all a great choice and recommended.

Lots of character and a lovely location

You can't get a better location in Bukhara. The hotel has a lot of character, which I found rare at the upper end of hotels in the country. The breakfast buffet was good, they made an effort to get portable heaters when the weather turned and it suddenly got cold, the bathroom was very nicely done and the staff very friendly. And it was very competitively priced. I woud definitely recommend it.

Worth a visit

This modernised hotel in a building dating from at least the early part of the twentieth century is well located, In an alley off a square with numerous hotels, on the edge of the historic city. Comfortable and economical. Friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast. Small bar. Adequate restaurant in the nearby square (subject to the usual cautions about the possibility of stomach ailments!).

Great discovery

Its a beautiful old building, with an incredible 19th century dining room and verandah off a courtyard. The rooms are simple, comfortable and quiet, despite being minutes away from the central pond of Bukhara. It was a great base to explore from, easy to return if we needed a rest. The staff spoke English and were very helpful. We loved it and would highly recommend it.
