A comprehensive tour, exploring the highlights of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. Beginning in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, visit this attractive city and the magnificent Issyk-Kul Lake before flying or transferring to Uzbekistan to explore the ancient and historical towns of the Silk Road.
Travel itinerary:Bishkek - Issyk-Kul - Bishkek - Tashkent - Khiva - Bukhara - Shakhrisabz - Samarkand - Tashkent
Day 1: Arrival in Bishkek, pick-up at the airport and transfer to the hotel, rest. Breakfast. Sightseeing city tour with visits to Oak Park, Central Square, Philharmonic, Statue of Manas, Victory Square, Museums, bazaar. Lunch. Free time. Dinner. Overnight in Bishkek.
Day 2: Breakfast and transfer to Issyk-Kul Lake (260 km via Burana tower on the spot of the ancient city of Balasagyn (11-13th c.). Accommodation in hotel on the North coast of Issyk-Kul Lake. Dinner. Overnight on Issyk-Kul.
Day 3: Breakfast and excursion to Cholpon-Ata to view petroglyphs and the Ethnographic Museum. Return to hotel, lunch and transfer to Bishkek. Accommodation in hotel. Dinner in a city restaurant. Overnight in Bishkek. Bishkek.
Day 4: Early morning breakfast and departure to Tashkent, by flight, or transfer to Tashkent overland (600 km) via Kazakhstan, lunch en-route with visits to local villages. Arrival at the Kazakh-Uzbek border late evening. Crossing the border. Transfer to Tashkent (15 km). Accommodation in hotel. Dinner in hotel restaurant. Overnight in Tashkent.
Day 5: Breakfast. Transfer to Tashkent airport for morning flight to Urgench. Arrival in Urgench. Transfer to Khiva (35 km). Accommodation in hotel. City tour around the Ichan-Kala architectural complex (12-19th cc.): the Residence of the last Khan including the Ismail Khodja mausoleum, Mohammed Amin Khan madrassah, Kunya-Ark Castle (16-17th cc.), Kalta Minor tower, Tash-Hovli Palace (19th c.), Pahlavan Mahmud mausoleum (14-18th cc.), and Djuma mosque (10th c.). Dinner. Overnight in Khiva.
Day 6: Breakfast. Coach trip to Bukhara via the desert along the Caravan road, (480 km, 6-7 hrs). Picnic lunch along the way. Arrival in Bukhara, accommodation in hotel. Afternoon excursion: Medreseh Nodir-Divan-Beghi, complex Lyabi-Khauz (14-17th cc.), Minaret Kalon (12-14th cc.), Kalon Mosque (15th c.), Medreseh Miri Arab (16th c.). Dinner. Overnight in Bukhara.
Day 7: Breakfast. Continuation of city tour program: Citadel Ark, Samanids Mausoleum (10th c.), Chashma Ayub, Bolo-Hauz mosque (early 20th c.), Coumpol bazaar. Trip out of the city for a visit to the Bahouddin Nakshbandi mausoleum (16-19th cc.), and to the sepulchers of his mother and preceptor (14th c.), the summer residence Sitorai-Mokhi-Hossa (19th c.), and mausoleum Chor-Bakr (10th c.). Dinner in a traditional Uzbek house. Overnight in Bukhara.
Day 8: Breakfast. Coach trip to Shakhrisabz (290 km, 5 hrs). City tour around Shakhrisabz: ruins of Ak-Saray Palace (14-15th cc.), Dor-ut Tillavat complex (Gumbazi-Seiidan, Kok Gumbaz mosque (15th c.)), Dor-ut Saodat complex (Khazratiy Imam Mosque (14th c.), Jahongir mausoleum (14th c.)). Transfer Shakhrisabz - Samarkand (170 km, 3 hrs). Accommodation in hotel. Dinner. Overnight in Samarkand.
Day 9: Breakfast. City tour: Excavations and museum of the ancient city of Afrosiab, architectural complex Shakhi-Zindeh (11-15th cc.), Ulughbek Observatory, Registan Square: Medreseh Ulughbek (15th c.), Medreseh Shir-Dor (17th c.), Medreseh Tilla-Kori (17th c.), Mausoleum Guri Emir - Tamerlane's Tomb (14-15th cc.), Bibi-Khonum mosque, bazaar. Dinner in an Uzbek restaurant with folklore concert. Overnight in Samarkand.
Day 10: Breakfast. Transfer to Tashkent (315 km, 4 hrs). Accommodation in hotel. City tour around Tashkent: Abu Bakr Kaffal Shoshi-Islamic scholar, mausoleum (16th c.), Barak-Khan madrasah (16th c.), Kukeldash madrasah (16th c.), and Djuma mosque (9th c.). Visit to the Opera and Ballet Theater. Dinner. Overnight in Tashkent.
Day 11: Breakfast. Transfer to Tashkent airport for flight to next destination.
