Friendly staff - close to the sights

I stayed at Malika Khiva Hotel in December 2014 for 2 nights. I intended to stay at the Orient Star Hotel as it seemed to be nice to stay at a old medrassa within the city walls. But as the Orient Star was closed due to low season (as many other hotels as well), I was accomodated at the Malika Khiva Hotel. It is just outside the city walls, so regarding the location it made no difference to stay here or at the Orient Star Hotel. I was the only guest at the hotel and the staff was friendly and welcoming. Room was plain, but all right. Bathroom with tube and hairdryer. Breakfast was simple, but I cannot expect a buffet when I am the only guest. At the Hotel it is also possible to buy stamps and to exchange money.

Probably our best stay in Uzbekistan. Good value for money.

Malika is very close to Khiva's west gate and has good views of the citadel.
The rooms are clean and quite comfortable. The best bed we had in Uzbekistan, hence the best sleep. Cleanliness is ok.
Good breakfast. We brought them bacon (there's good bacon in the bazaar at the East Gate) and they cooked eggs with bacon for us.
Friendly staff. There's always someone who speaks English, not all of them.
I would repeat. It's a good value for money. Recommended.

Clean rooms, firm mattrasses

Placed 100 metres from the West Gate of the city walls, this hotel is placed perfectly. Spacious rooms, firm (not too firm) mattrasses. Bath tub. Fine breakfast. Clean rooms. Above average standard for Uzbekistan. The internet is slow, so be patient.

Average hotel in a great location

An attractive hotel which is quite modern but built in the traditional style. I liked the lobby with the first floor gallery, however, I found the games in the lobby area a little strange. The breakfast was served in the dining room which reminded me of a staff canteen. Probably influenced by the Russian era. As I was suffering from stomach problems during my stay in Khiva I did not sample the breakfasts on offer but the buffet selection looked most unappetizing anyway.
The room was OK. The plumbing was a little antiquated but functional.
The most pleasing aspect of the hotel is its location. Only 200 metres from the West Gate of the Khiva walled city known as Ichon Qala. It was great walking around the old city just as the sun was setting and trying to imagine what it was like during the great days when it was major oasis on the Silk Road. The city is now an open air museum.

Amazing view, basic rooms

We were lucky enough to have rooms facing the wonderful walls of Khiva. Although the hotel is just outside the old city walls it is within easy walking distance. The rooms, although reasonably basic, are clean and functional, and there is reasonable wifi available.

Breakfast is served in the somewhat dour dining rooms, and the central lobby lacked atmosphere. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the view really is extraordinary. Beds are a little on the hard side.

Basic; could be better

We were in Khiva in mid-July when temperatures touched 45C. Even so there were some basics which detracted from the great location.
Common areas gave no real break from the heat and A/C in the rooms was basic - too cold in parts; not effective in others.
Breakfast though cannot be excused even with the heat - it was just not appetising, and could easily be improved with some care and attention.
Staff were friendly and helpful but this couldn't make up for the deficiencies in the offering. We were told to expect more basic services than in other cities nearer to Tashkent and this may well be one of the better hotels in Khiva. The city is spectacular but temper expectations in respect of accommodation.

A refuge in the heat!

Well located. Very charming and friendly, clean, family run place - traditional style but modern building, hence good plumbing and bedroom aircon - essential in late June with temperatures 40?+ . Guest laundry done swiftly and well - one needs so many changes of clothing in this temperature! The Segafreddo cafe downstairs (same people I think) has internet, does good coffee and is a good refuge on a hot afternoon.

Great location, charming hotel, basic comfort

I visited the Malika Khiva with a group of tourist as a tour leader. The location of this hotel is just amazing, facing the main entrance of the old city. The hotel is cute and charming but the comfort very basic. The breakfast is also basic but correct.Internet is available only in the lobby or the rooms closed to the lobby.

A very good location, just on the frontstep to the old town

A nice two storey hotel 200 meters from the main gate of Khiva. A quiet place and quiet surroundings , but we missed a good terrace . There is one place to sit outside, but the location near a dirty pond did not invited to visits. The rooms were good and the breakfast sufficient.

Another Malika chain's hotel with good location

This place is another hotel by Malika hotel chain, and is located 200-300 meters away from Ichan-Kala fortress. It's as good as the other one, Malika Kheivak Hotel, with the only difference that it's outside of the old town fortress.

Perfect location in Khiva

On a 12 day trip along the Silk Road, we stayed two nights at Malika in Khiva.
The hotel is literally at the foot of the walls and just opposite the main entrance to Ichon-Qala - the old town - and you walked straight into history when leaving the hotel.
Hotel was great, big lobby with carpets and other crafts on exhibit, the rooms were spacy and clean, and the breakfast was excellent.
A perfect place for exploring old Khiva.

Excellent location, average hotel

As all the reviews state the location is perfect. However the hotel is quite cold and distinctly charmless. Hotel staff were obliging and helpful. A sparce open space in the lobby with a strange arrangement of a scarecrow falling off a cart and a few items for sale - so much more could have been made of this area. The hotel had completmentary wifi but it was really only available at recption.
Our bedroom was very small but it did have a slim wardrobe which we made good use of. The bed was tiny and very hard, bedlinen was clean, towels were thick but a strange colour.
Breakfast had the usual array of Uzbek pastries and breads with a selection of cheese and processed meats. They did have a hot (just warm) fried egg dish, coffee was very undistinctive.

Exceptional location, pleasant stay

Malika Khiva is a nice hotel in a very good location, although this is not as good as the Orient Star which is situated inside the Ichon Kala. The reception staff is good, the rooms are small but OK with clean sheets and towels. Our bathroom used to flood after showering which was a problem given that they do not have bath mats and have put up signs not to use the towels on the floor. The breakfast is good.

Lovely location and fantastic service

The location was fantastic. The hotel was lovely. We loved the courtyard and the huge chess set. The only downside was there was no Wifi. Breakfast was very nice and service was excellent. We changed rooms in a jiffy when we commented the room was cold. We wouldn't mind coming back again!
