Nurata Mountainous Nut and Fruit Nature Reserve
Nature reserves in Uzbekistan. Uzbekistan nature

The Nurata Mountain Reserve (founded in 1975) is on the Nurata Ridge in the Farish district of the Djizak Region. Its area is 22,500 ha.

The topography of the reserve is typically mountainous (the highest point is 2,100 meters above sea level) with big and small rivers, gorges, and massive rocks. There is combined semi-desert and forest vegetation. In general, trees and shrubs grow in the flood plains of the rivers. The most widespread are walnut trees; there are also wild apple trees, plum trees, mulberry trees, and cherry plums.

Of the animals, the sheep of Severtsev is the most valuable. Wild boars, foxes, wolves, porcupines, badgers, and plenty of stone grouse inhabit the reserve. Birds of prey are represented by the black griffin, the dwarf-eagle, and others.
