Travel in Uzbekistan & Tajikistan. Tour package consists of a combination of historical and natural components.

The Fan Mountains are a unique section of the Pamir Mountains. It is a land of lakes, cloudy peaks, and ancient legends. The picturesque valleys of Zindan and Archimaidan, mysterious beauty of Bolshoi Allo Lake, in the clutches of vertical cliffs, beautiful chains of Kulikolonskiy and Alaudinskiy lakes, great waterfalls, and the wonderful and striking mountainous peaks: Chabdara, Bolshaya and Malaya Ganza will stay in your memory forever. After trekking in the mountains you will spend several days in the ancient cities of the Great Silk Road - Samarkand and Tashkent, and enjoy noisy oriental bazaars and unique architectural monuments.

Tour itinerary: Tashkent - Samarkand - Fan Mountains - Penjikent - Samarkand - Tashkent

Day 1:

Arrival at Tashkent airport. Transport to the hotel. Accommodation in hotel. Dinner. Overnight in Tashkent.

Day 2:

Breakfast. Transfer to Samarkand (330 km, 4.5 hrs) by car: cross the valley of the Syrdaria River and Djizak steppes, explore the daily life of the locals and enjoy a view of the rock formations called The Gate of Tamerlane. Accommodation in hotel. Lunch. Free time. Dinner. Overnight in S Samarkand.

Day 3:

Breakfast. Transfer to the Uzbek-Tadjik border. Crossing of the border. Transfer to Pendjikent (60 km, 3 hrs from Samarkand). Transfer to special mountain truck. Continue transfer to alpine camp Artuch (50 km, 2.5 hrs). Box lunch en-route. Remainder of the day will be spent resting and preparing for trekking. Accommodation in cottages (2200 m). Dinner. Overnight in camp Artuch.

Day 4:

Breakfast. Beginning of trek. Walk up to the Kulikalonskie Lakes through juniper forests to admire the fascinating panorama of the unique Kulikalonskaya massif, with its clouded peaks of more than 4500 m (Adamtash, peak Mariya, Rudaki and Mirali peak) and the crystal clear emerald blue water of the Kulikalonskie lakes (total 14 lakes). Lunch. Camp on the bank of the Bibidjanat or Dushokha lakes (2900 m), (10 km, 5 hrs, + 700 m). Dinner. Overnight in tents.

Day 5:

Breakfast. Ascent to the Alautdin pass (3860 m) from where an impressive view of Chapdara peak (5197 m) and the valley of the Chapdara River opens up, and a descent to the Alautdin Lakes. Camp on the bank of one of the lakes (2900 m), (6 km, 6 hrs, + 900, - 950 m). Lunch. Far below, you can see Alautdin Lake with its amazing color, changing from light blue to bright ultramarine. Dinner. Overnight in tents.

Day 6:

Breakfast. Ascent to the Mutnoje Lake (8 km, 4 - 5 hrs, + 800m). Camp on the bank of the lake (3600 m). Lunch. During the day we gain attractive panoramas of the Kaznok, Zamok, Energiya and Chimtarga peaks. The severe conditions of the alpine mountain zone, hanging glaciers and steep moraines are apparent in this region. On the way, you can see rare birch trees and a small lake named for its round shape, "Piala Lake", gigantic steps of glaciers and polished rocks. High in the sky, eagles soar around you. Daily round trip walking trip up to pass Kaznok (2 hrs, + 400 m). From the pass an impressive view of Chimtarga Peak (5489 m) opens up - the highest point of the Fan Mountains. Dinner. Overnight in tents.

Day 7:

Breakfast. On one of this most difficult days, we ascend to near the top of the Chimtarga pass. Camp (4500 m), (5 km, + 900 m). An ascent via a flat, easy walk up a gentle glacier leads to steep scree slopes; there are some grassy spots where we can camp. Lunch. Unforgettable views of the Zeravshanskiy and Gissarskiyranges and the whole Fan Mountains system reflecting the colors of sunset are our reward. Dinner. Overnight in tents.

Day 8:

Breakfast. Walk up the Chimtarga pass (4740 m) - one of the highest passes in the region. Descent from the pass along scree slopes to the Valley of the Zindon River and further to Bolshoje Allo Lake. Camp on the bank of the lake (3180 m), (8 km, + 300 m, 1.5 hrs, - 1500 m, 5 hrs). Lunch. From the pass, we enjoy magnificent views of mountain "country" - The Fan Mountains, Bolshaya (big) Ganza (5308 m) and Malaya (small) Ganza (4956 m), peak Energiya (5105 m), and Moskva peak ((5046 m). A difficult descent from the pass to the valley of the Zindon River follows, then an easy path to Bolshoje Allo Lake, which is one of the most amazing in the region for its beauty, and the severe and inimitable colors. It was created by a gigantic landslide in 1916. The lower part of the descent leads to the Valley of the Zindon River(the name of which means "prison", because of the rocks which squeeze the river from all sides). Dinner. Overnight in tents.

Day 9:

Breakfast. Rest day at Bolshoje Allo Lake. . Swimming in the lake. Sightseeing at Verkhnoye (upper) Allo Lake (3 km, 3 hrs), where you can admire a big waterfall. Lunch. On the way, views of Peak MoskvaMoskva (5046 m) and adjoining peaks and glaciers. Dinner. Overnight in tents.

Day 10:

Breakfast. Descent along the Zindon River to the vast valley of the Archimaidan River (5 - 6 hrs). Rendezvous with car. Camp (1600 m). Lunch. During the descent, we will be given a demonstration of the shepherd's way of life. We will have the opportunity to taste traditional prepared foods such as "airan", a type of yogurt, "Uzbek round bread" and aromatic Uzbek tea. Dinner. Overnight in tents.

Day 11:

Breakfast. Transfer to the Tadjik-Uzbek border, after border crossing transfer to Samarkand via Pendjikent (110 km, 4 hrs). Lunch in and sightseeing in Pendjikent: excavations of the ancient city, visit to the Museum of local lore and the Rudaki Museum. Arrival in Samarkand. Accommodation in hotel. Dinner. Overnight in Samarkand.

Day 12:

Breakfast. City tour: excavations and museum of the ancient city of Afrosiab, architectural complex Shakhi-Zindeh (11 - 15th cc.), mausoleum Guri Emir - Tamerlane's Tomb (14 - 15th cc.). Lunch. Continuation of city tour program: Museum of the city's foundation (including murals from the 7th c.), Bibi-Khonum mosque, Bazaar, Medreseh Ulughbek (15th c.), Medreseh Shir-Dor (17th c.), Medreseh Tilla-Kori (17th c.), Ulughbek Observatory. Dinner. Overnight in Samarkand.

Day 13:

Breakfast. Transfer from Samarkand to Tashkent (330 km, 4.5 hrs). Accommodation in the hotel. Lunch. Free time. Dinner. Overnight in Tashkent.

Day 14:

Breakfast. Drop off at Tashkent airport for flight to next destination (according to timetable).

Day 11:

Breakfast. Ascent to the Archimaidan River River along a good unpaved road to the confluence of the Sarymat River. Camp on the bank of the Sarymat River, not far from the mouth of the river (1850 m), (6 km, 3 hrs, + 300 m). Lunch. The Vast Valley of the Archimaidan River is pleasant to the eye with its beautiful scenes. In the gorge of the Sarymat River, an hour's walk along an old path will bring you to the exotic Humorigung settlement, where the houses of the locals have been built in stone and situated quite close to the canyon walls. Dinner. Overnight in tents.

Day 12:

Breakfast. An interesting ascent along the Sarymat Riverleads among ancient juniper trees to the pass. Camp on a spacious meadow from where we witness a magnificent mountain panoramic view (3100 m), (10 km, 6 hrs, + 1200 m). Lunch. Dinner. Overnight in tents.

Day 13:

Breakfast. An easy going ascent to Tavasang pass (3300 m) runs along a good grassy path. The descent from the top of the pass is long, crosses some spurs, and leads to Hazarchashma Lake. Camp on the bank of a picturesque lake (2450 m), (10 km, + 200 m, -950 m, 6 hrs). Lunch. On the way down from the pass you can see a coal field (with no industrial importance), which is used by locals to heat their huts. Observation of the daily life of the locals. During the descent, we will enjoy a view of Big Marguzor Lake. The cascade of the Marguzor lakes consists of small lakes quite different from each other, with their magic beauty and interesting legends. Dinner. Overnight in tents.

Day 14:

Breakfast. Sightseeing in the area of Hazarchachma Lake and short passage to Marguzor Lake. Camp on the bank of lake (2140 m), (7 km, 4 hrs, - 250 m). Lunch. During sightseeing, we offer the opportunity to visit a Tajik house, to introduce you to the peculiarities of the locals' life, to visit their water mill and so on. The lake is perfect for swimming and resting, or just enjoying the scenery. Dinner. Overnight in tents.

Day 15: Rendezvous with car. Transfer to Pendjikent (40 km, 2 hrs). Lunch. Possible sightseeing in Pendjikent of the excavations of the ancient city and a visit to the Museum of local lore named after national poet Rudaki. Transfer to Samarkand (60 km, 1.5 hrs) via the Tajik-Uzbek border. Accommodation in hotel. Dinner. Overnight in Samarkand.

Day 16:

Breakfast. City tour: excavations and museum of the ancient city of Afrosiab, architectural complex Shakhi-Zindeh (11 - 15th cc.), mausoleum Guri Emir - Tamerlane's Tomb (14 - 15th cc.). Lunch.
