Tour Itinerary:
In the morning, your driver and guide will pick you up from your Tbilisi hotel to begin your hiking tour to Birtvisi Canyon.
Drive through beautiful landscapes along the Algeti River to Trialeti Planned National Park (60km, 1hr). Arrive to a small village near Algeti Reservoir and start hiking through Birtvisi Canyon to Birtvisi Fortress (11th century), a once impenetrable castle hidden among the canyon’s cliffs. The walk will be around 3.5 kilometers one way.
As you hike you will encounter forests, rocky canyons, ruins of hidden castles, stone bridges and a gorgeous panoramic view. Stop on the way for a picnic lunch and a short rest before continuing. If time permits, you will also visit Amlevi Church (17th century), built during the reign of George VI and located inside the national park.
Hike a different route back to the starting point and drive back to Tbilisi. End of Birtvisi Canyon Hiking Tour.
