Nicknamed the “Pearl of Kazakhstan” and “Kazakh Switzerland”, it’s easy to see that Burabay National Park in northern Kazakhstan is adored by locals and viewed as nothing less than a national treasure, and with good reason. Also called Borovoe, this recreational pearl of the steppe is a fantastic mountainous area filled with swaths of alpine woods, fourteen crystal blue lakes and mystical wonders in the form of multiple unusual rock formations.
Burabay National Park Day Tour is a relaxing full-day excursion to Kazakhstan’s pearl of nature that will astound your senses and revitalize your spirit. The tour begins in capital city Astana, from which you’ll be chauffeured in a private vehicle to Burabay National Park to enjoy jaw-dropping scenery of Burabay Mountain and Lake Borovoe, short hikes to Ablai Khan Meadow and Mount Bolektau, and a picnic lunch in the calming environs of exquisite natural beauty.

Program

Tour Itinerary:

Meet your guide and driver in the lobby of your Astana hotel to begin the tour of Burabay National Park. Relax on the drive to the reserve (260km,4hrs) while your experienced guide shares more about the history and ecology of the region.
Upon arrival to Borovoe (Burabay), enjoy some light hiking through mountain glades and pine forests. Stop at Khan’s Pass for incredible views of Burabay and Zheke-Batyr Mountains from a special observation deck. Continue on to Ablai Khan Meadow, a peaceful clearing that affords a charming view of the Ush-Kyz, Ok-Jetpes and Zhumbaktas boulders, unusual rock formations made even more spectacular by the legends surrounding them.
After lunch, enjoy free time to explore your environs before climbing a small ascent to Mount Bolektau, one of Burabay Park’s most beloved features, at the top of which you can bask in an unhindered view of Lake Borovoe.
