Future of Hunting and Fishing
Hunting and Fishing in Azerbaijan
For a sport hunter, to protect nature is more than to keep the present. It means rational management. Regarding wildlife, it's about managing resources which are never over if to operate right. An emptied oil derrick is never full back. If to take some from a copper mine, this "some" will never be back. However, a healthy and properly run wild animals' population is going to always provide people with meat, fur and feathers and also with a chance to hunt. Wildlife is a rand renewable resource. As such one, it is the earliest and greatest human belonging.
Hunt for fun is not only the oldest, but also the most natural sport as a direct and atavistic interaction of people with nature. In harmony with environment, a hunter doesn't destroy it. People have been hunting so for long and will always do if other types of human activity don't destroy flora and fauna. However, hunt, currently very restricted, does need serious regulation because people have too badly treated animals and their habitat for many centuries.
Sport hunters were one of the first to understand than an arboretum is not a forest, and wild animals in a zoo aren't actually wild. As murder in hunt is only a momentary episode in contrast to long approaching the game in its habitat, an amateur hunter has always been interested in reproducing whole species, but not just artificial zoo breeding. A true hunter knows the protection of environment is not only the most important condition for wildlife to survive, but also meets his/her personal interests.
Long ago, hunters started establishing societies for the protection and restoration of animals'habitat.
A hunting place is not new. Ancient Egyptian nobles hunted for sport, and Egyptians very likely preserved few species of hunting animals and determined their own hunting places. In Europe, royal woods had been under protection for minimum 12 centuries. Chinghiz-Khan restricted hunting some game. Native Americans used fire to intensify young forests, where deer liked to graze, far before white people entered the continent for the first time in the 15th century. There are a number of hunting places in Azerbaijan.
Across the world, amateur hunters play leading roles in environment protection which so necessary for people and wildlife. Ignorant persons make fun of hunters and blame them; enemies of hunt, who try to rewrite history, often deny the significance of past, present and future contribution by hunters to environment protection trying to prove that amateurs have no regard with that. However, trying to exclude hunters from history means to deny humanity roots which still feed people with everything needed to live and evolve. Nature forced as to become hunters; as long as there is game, there will be hunters.
Azerbaijan has always been a country of skillful hunters. Azerbaijan's nature provides a hunter with excellent opportunities to show his/her skills and abilities and enjoy the beauty and generosity of the Land of Fire, which is an incomparable pleasure.
