Description
Step back into history and follow the legendary Marco Polo, the young Venetian merchant who began his great journey along the Silk Road in the 13th century at only 17 years old. Together with his father Niccolò and uncle Maffeo, he crossed the heart of Central Asia – through the lands that today form Uzbekistan – on his way to the court of the Mongol emperor Kublai Khan.
In his famous book, known in Italy as the “Book Million about Miracles of the World”, Marco Polo described the cities of Khiva, Bukhara, and Samarkand as grand centers of trade, learning, and tolerance. He wrote of blue-domed mosques, fragrant bazaars, and gardens full of fruit – a vivid portrait of the Silk Road’s golden age.
This 8-day journey invites you to retrace Marco Polo’s path across Uzbekistan – from the desert oasis of Khiva to the splendid cities of Bukhara and Samarkand. Discover the legacy of the Silk Road, experience the warmth of Uzbek hospitality, and walk the same streets where Marco Polo once traveled in search of fortune and discovery.
