Program

Tour Itinerary:

In the morning, drive from your Samarkand hotel to Aksay village (40km, 50min), situated at the bottom of the Mirankul Mountains.
To reach Hazrat Daud Cave you have two options – a vigorous but pleasant hike up 1300 stairs (app. 1hr) or a horse or donkey ride (25min).
Upon completing the ascent to an altitude of 1290 meters, you’ll have an excellent panoramic view of the Zarafshan River Valley from a viewing platform. Visit the small mosque before descending 200 steps to reach Hazrat Daud Cave (King David’s Cave), measuring 15 meters high and over 30 meters deep. Wind your way through a tunnel to reach the prophet’s hand and footprints at the back of the cave.
Upon exiting, have a short rest before climbing back down to Aksay Village, where your driver will be waiting.
Return to Samarkand. End of Hazrat Daud Cave Tour.

We were still travelling through Kazachstan and Kyrgystan. Tomorrow we will go back home. We had a great time in Uzbekistan. We had a very warm welcome by the driver and felt directly at home. We liked the Komil boutique the most. The Grand Mir hotel was slightly out dated. The Mountainbiking was fantastic. And also the Hazrad Daud cave was an adventure to be between the locals. Our guide and driver of that day were both fantastic too. Travelling by train was easy and the Uzbek people are very friendly and helpfull.
