Although Uzbekistan may not seem like the natural choice for a winter holiday, winter is the ideal time to discover the country’s evocative Silk Road cities in peace and tranquillity. On this Uzbekistan Winter Group Tour, you’ll follow in the footsteps of caravans as you journey to the fabled trading hub of Samarkand; visit mosques and madrassahs in the 2,000-year-old city of Bukhara; and experience the blend of old and new in Uzbekistan’s capital, Tashkent. Photograph the famous monuments, including two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, without the crowds and, if you’re very lucky, with a dusting of snow. Depending on your departure date, you may also be able to celebrate New Year’s Eve in local style.

Arrive in Tashkent. You will be met by our driver and transferred to the hotel. Meet your guide and driver and start sightseeing capital of Uzbekistan, the biggest city in Central Asia. Visit Old City part of Tashkent with Khast-Imam Complex where the world famous Quran of Caliph Uthman– Ottoman has been preserved. In Khast-Imam visit Madrasah of Barak-Khan, Tilla Sheikh Mosque, Mausoleum of the Saint Abu Bakr Kaffal Shashi and the Islamic Institute of Imam al-Bukhari. Explore Chorsu Bazaar. Then take a ride on Tashkent Metro to the city center to visit Applied Arts Museum and walk through Navoi Theater to Amir Timur Square where you will end Tashkent city tour.
Duration of sightseeing tour: 4-5 hours
Morning transfer to the railway station for the high-speed Afrosiyob train ride to Samarkand (journey time 2 h 10 min). Your guide and driver will meet you at train station to begin the city tour in Samarkand. Visit spectacular Registan Square, remains of Bibi-Khanum Mosque, Siab Bazaar, Ulugbek Observatory, Shakhi-Zinda Necropolis and Gur-Emir Mausoleum, the final resting place of the Turco-Mongol emperor, Timur. Overnight at the hotel.
Duration of sightseeing tour: 6-7 hours
Continue sightseeing: visit Afrasiab Museum and the Tomb of Saint Daniel. Then drive to Konigil village to explore traditional way of making Samarkand paper from mulberry. Enjoy free time with car and driver at your disposal after sightseeing tour. Overnight at the hotel.
Duration of sightseeing tour: 3-4 hours
After breakfast, head to the Samarkand railway station to take the Afrosiyob fast train to Bukhara, departing at 8:50am and arriving at 11:19am (270km). Transfer to the hotel and begin your walking tour of Bukhara, stopping for lunch along the way. The tour includes Lyabi-Hauz Complex, Magoki-Attori Mosque, Chor-Minor Madrasah, Trade Domes, Kalyan Minaret and Mosque, Miri-Arab Madrasah, Ulugbek Madrasah, Abdulazizkhan Madrasah, Ark Fortress, Bolo-Khauz Mosque, Samanids Mausoleum and Chashma Ayub Mausoleum. Overnight at the hotel in Bukhara.
Duration of sightseeing tour: 6-7 hours
Start the second day in Bukhara discovering Ark Fortress, Bolo-Khauz Mosque, Samanid dynasty and Chashma-Ayub mausoleums. Then visit Sitorai Mokhi-Khosa – the summer residence of Bukhara’s last emir, unique site combining Oriental and Russian architecture. Continue to the Mausoleum of Bakhouddin Naqshbandi.
At 14:40 transfer to the train station. Take Afrosiyob train to Tashkent departing at 15:50, arriving at 19:48 (540 km). Upon arrival the driver will transfer you to the hotel in Tashkent. Overnight at the hotel.

Transfer to Tashkent International airport. Departure. End of the tour.
